The Cheshire RFU Senior Women’s Programme brings together the strongest female adult players from clubs across the county to compete at the highest level of county rugby. This squad represents Cheshire RFU in the Gill Burns County Championship, targeting progression through the competition and aiming for a place in the final at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.
The programme is built around performance behaviours, high‑quality coaching, and a strong team identity — giving players a meaningful representative experience and a clear connection to the county pathway.
Who the Programme Is For
The Senior Women’s squad is open to players who:
- Are aged 18+
- Play senior women’s rugby at a Cheshire club
- Born or are resident in Cheshire
- Demonstrate strong core skills, work rate, and game understanding
- Show commitment, resilience, and a desire to compete at county level
Programme Structure
The Senior Women’s programme follows a clear, competitive structure:
- Assessment
Players attend an assessment session where coaches evaluate:

- Positional strengths
- Coachability and team behaviours
This ensures selection is fair, transparent, and performance‑based.
- Regular Training (End‑of‑Season Block)
Towards the end of the club season, the squad comes together for a focused training block.

This block builds the performance standards required for the Gill Burns competition.
