Cheshire RFU are delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Wilson as their Diversity and Inclusion Lead with immediate effect. Please find below a brief Bio of Ian.
I am Ian Wilson, I am a 53 year old (almost) retired police officer. I am married and have two children, a 13 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. My love of the game began in high school, continued through college and during my career with Cheshire police. My children both play rugby at Chester RUFC. I have coached at Chester for 9 years and have been head coach of my son’s junior age group for the last five years. I have experience of coaching and refereeing schools rugby over the last 3 years.
In an effort to develop my coaching skills and experience and maintain my England Rugby Coaching Award I have completed numerous CPD courses and I am an assistant coach with the Sale Sharks Developing Player Programme.
I am the mini’s and junior’s rugby manager at Chester and represent the M&J’s on the executive committee.
I see the role of Diversity & Inclusion Lead as an exciting challenge and an opportunity to use my knowledge, experience and coaching values to support Cheshire RFU in developing and implementing a local strategy to improve diversity and inclusion across the game, to create an inclusive culture and better reflect the society we live in.
