Dear Club Chairmen, M&J Chairmen and CVCs,
As you will have seen on the national and regional news, the Rugby World Cup Volunteer programme was launched on Wednesday 12th February. Please see attached for some more details – in the form of a newsletter that you can post in your clubs and on your websites. Volunteer Programme newsletter
Importantly you will see that 600 volunteers are required to support RWC2015, and 75% of these have been allocated to the rugby community, meaning EVERY rugby club has been allocated either 1 or 2 volunteer places. (Voting clubs get 2 places, and non-voting 1 place). Every club will be asked to nominate a substitute as well.
These volunteer places need to be allocated to named people by 17th April at the very latest, or they will be lost.
How clubs allocate these places is up to the club. These positions can be used to entice new people to your club, recognise/reward existing volunteers, or ballot within the club. All RWC2015 expect is that the process is fair and transparent and in line with the values of RWC2015.
Each nominated person will have to complete the application process which is open between 17th March and 17th April. There are individual codes required for each applicant which I have.
Each Club has been allocated a single RWC2015 venue to support – ALL Cheshire clubs have been allocated the City of Manchester Stadium.
Time is tight, and interest is expected to be very high, so I’m asking clubs to select their nominees and substitute as soon as possible.
I recognise that you may have more questions and there are more details, including types of volunteer support required, that I have that are too much for an email>
I am happy to answer any questions either via email or phone – (07801076727), and will be endeavouring to set up the cluster meeting groups in the next few weeks to meet club representatives face to face to go through the official presentation, including details of the volunteering required, the application and on boarding processes, share ideas, answer questions and support clubs in selecting their nominees and enabling them to complete the application process.
I wanted to get this communication out to you as soon as possible so you can start discussions within your clubs, whilst I try to set up the cluster meetings. I will report progress at the county meeting on 20th March.
