15 group match reports 2016.

Even though the season got off to a soggy start we managed to play Yorkshire B at Stockport RFC on Sunday February 14th and we won a very exciting match 21-16.

On Wednesday February 24th we played our re-arranged match against Staffordshire where a combined A and B side won 71-0.

Special thanks go to Stockport RFC and Sandbach RFC for working hard to ensure the availability of their grounds for our games.

Our next match against Lancashire was postponed due to a wet pitch at New Brighton RFC. It will now be played at Stockport RFC on Sunday March 20th.

Our A and B teams travelled to Hull Ionians on Sunday February 28th and both lost their games. The B game was particularly close but Yorkshire gained revenge for their earlier defeat winning 22-17. The A match was a win to Yorkshire by 32-14 which was particularly disappointing. Losing to Yorkshire is not in itself a shock as they are a very powerful rugby county with huge resources but what was disappointing was the manner in which we lost. Our forwards failed to compete at the breakdown which gave Yorkshire too much control of the game. Josh Hadland and Sam Higginson didn’t really deserve to be on the losing side and we will be looking for a great improvement for our game against Lancashire. We have a very skilful group of players and I am optimistic that we can finish the season on a winning note against Lancashire and Kent.
